Biografia (en Alemán): The daughter of a production designer and television producer, Jessica spent
a great deal of time on film sets during her childhood, and appeared as an
extra in numerous productions.
As a teenager, she lived with her mom and her stepfather- a correspondent
for German TV in Cairo, Egypt- where she loved watching the Editor cutting
documentaries and news shows. This stimulated her interest in becoming an
editor, so, after graduating from the German school in Cairo, she moved back
home, quickly securing a position as a film-editing trainee on the famous
German TV series, ³A Case for Two².
She then worked at German TV (ZDF), where she was the editor on ³Deadly
Smile² and co-editor on numerous Television Features and Series, including
³The Big Screw-Up,² ³Two Brothers - The Long Night,² and ³Three Women and no
(one) Man,² which were all cut on 16/35mm flatbed. Jessica also edited
numerous documentaries, as well as news shows, and has worked as an editing
instructor at German TV¹s Department of Education.
After she was accepted into the editing program at the American film
institute (AFI) in 1996, she quit her job at German television and came to
Los Angeles. While at the AFI, she was editor on seven short films, and the
award winning thesis film ³Sorrow¹s Child.² Jessica received the Institute¹s
Tommy Gross Award for Outstanding Achievement in Editing in 1997, and earned
a nomination at the American Cinema Editors' (ACE) Student Editing
Competition in 1998.
Since graduating from AFI, she has cut 5 feature films - ³Two Degrees²,
³Detroit², ³Don¹t try this at home²; ³Resin², and ³Red Herring² - as well as
several short films. A number of these have won prestigious awards at
international festivals, and been screened on Showtime, The Sci-Fi Channel,
and European television.
