Eigentlich drehte Lola Randl „Die Erfindung der Liebe“ bereits 2011, doch dann starb Hauptdarstellerin Maria Kwiatkowsky, die Dreharbeiten wurden abgebrochen.
Nun hat Lola Randl den Film vollendet, umgebaut, hat einen neuen Film aus dem alten erschaffen. Einen Film, der zart ist und radikal: ein Stückwerk, das sich emotional doch zu einem Ganzen fügt; ein Werk, dass das Filmemachen, seine Leidenschaft, seine Tragik, seinen Zynismus, sein Scheitern und sein Gelingen zeigt. Szenen des ursprünglichen Materials werden verknüpft mit neu gedrehtem Material.
Am Ende des Films fügen sie sich natürlich in die Erzählung ein, in der es um die verkaufte Liebe eines jungen Paares geht. Der Mann heiratet eine Reiche wegen des Geldes, das junge renitente Mädchen bleibt der Störfaktor. (ARD Presse)
